Derry Girls' Saoirse-Monica Jackson says she received explicit photos from 'old creepy men' during lockdown

Derry Girls' Saoirse-Monica Jackson has opened up about using dating apps during lockdown including receving DMs (direct messages) on social media from "old creepy men" during the last number of months.

Speaking on The Truth Flirts , a celebrity chat show hosted by Ella Eyre and created by dating app Badoo, Saoirse-Monica Jackson and singer Tom Grennan talked candidly about love and relationships during a pandemic.

In the second episode, Jackson talked about her recent experiences.

Asked about whether Coronavirus has changed dating forever, she said: “I love being on my own, so it's probably been not bad, but it’s definitely shown me that I’m very good on my own so I don’t need to rush into dating either.”

She also said that relying on meeting someone remotely can be difficult, and that she prefers to know someone in person.

"I think a big part of being attracted to someone is their mannerisms, and how they move. What if you went through the whole lockdown, put all this energy in, and then you meet them, and you don’t fancy the way they sit or walk, or they have long fingernails.”

The Derry Girls actress also revealed that she has been sent explicit DMs from men during lockdown, and that she thinks it's because she plays a schoolgirl on TV.

Saoirse-Monica Jackson reveals she was confused with Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo (Badoo)

"Most of [my DMs] are mostly from old creepy men. A lot of old creepy men.

"I think because I play a schoolgirl on TV and unfortunately there are those weirdos out there in the world.

"And when they send them on Instagram they're obviously blurred images and I have stopped looking into them but a lot of blurred penises and I can see the Netflix thing in the background."

Jackson also said that, in one of her DMs, she had been confused with Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo.

“I had a really good one, scrolling through the old generals on Instagram, and someone messaged me to say, I think you’re really fit in Made In Chelsea...I was delighted for Toff.”
