Derry Girls fans have predicted that former Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle is set to make a cameo in the upcoming series.
Viewers have been left waiting a long time since the last series in 2019, with Covid wiping out any hopes of the third season.
However, we found out that production is finally set to get underway next month.
Fans of the hysterical series – which is set in the late nineties amid the troubles in Northern Ireland – were ecstatic when actor Ian McElhinney, who plays Granda Joe on the BAFTA winning show confirmed that filming is underway.
As if that wasn’t enough excitement on its own, Derry Girls fans are now convinced that Nadine Coyle is set to make a cameo in the third season after she was forced to postpone an event due to filming restrictions.
Eagle-eyed fans quizzed the former Girls Aloud singer after she tweeted: "Hi lovely ones!!! I’m so sorry I can’t do the September 4th show!
"I’m filming a tv show in Ireland & due to COVID regulations I can’t travel back & forth to see you!! I’m doing a lot of shows between now & Christmas & I hope I get to see you soon!!"
The fan immediately connected the dots and tweeted: "Guys I think we're getting Nadine Coyle in Derry Girls."
“I always knew she would make an appearance,” someone else replied.
Meanwhile a third fan gushed: “All my dreams would come true if this is actually happening.”
Other fans shut down the theory as they revealed that Nadine has been named as a panelist on a new RTE talent show fronted by Westlife's Nicky Byrne.
The Derry-born star will help judge acts on karaoke show Last Singer Standing, along with N*Sync’s Joey Fatone.
Dublin singer Samantha Mumba will be the third panellist on the show, announced as part of RTÉ’s new season of programmes.
It comes two years after Derry Girls aired season two and fans are eager for the next instalment.
