Derry draw FK Riteriai in Europa League's first qualifying round

Derry City have been drawn away to Lithuainian outfit FK Riteriai in the first round of UEFA Europa League's qualifiers.

The Candystripes were handed the draw by UEFA's Head of Club competitions at UEFA headquarters in Nyon on Monday afternoon.

Declan Devine's side avoided games against Budapest Honvéd and Lithuanian A Lyga leaders FK Zalgiris.

The Brandywell outfit will travel to Vilnius in two weeks' time for a one-off game on August 27, with the usual two-legged format removed this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Riteriai are currently sitting in sixth place in the six team Lithuanian A Lyga, having won only one game from 14 played.

It will be the first time Derry have faced a Lithuanian side in Europe, while Riteriai have never faced an Irish side.
