Derry City could swoop for Mikey Drennan following his release from St Pat’s.
The striker had his contract terminated today despite having a year to run on his deal.
He was not part of new boss Stephen O’Donnell’s plans for next season and Mirror Sport understands the Candtstripes are keeping tabs.
Yesterday, Drennan said of his Saints exit: :”Unfortunately things didn’t work out the way you want them but that’s football.”
His wished his old club well and said: “Now I’ve a massive decision to make.”
Derry City boss Declan Devine is in the market for strikers.
His top scorers from last season, Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe and David Parkhouse, have returned to parent clubs Colchester and Sheffield United respectively.
Meanwhile, former Derry City striker Conor Davis has joined Cork City. The ex-Reading man said: “I had a stop-start few months at Derry and felt it was best to move on."
