Derry City boss Declan Devine insists there's 'no doom and gloom'

Derry City boss Declan Devine insists there's "no doom and gloom" in camp despite his side only picking up one point from a possible six.

The Candystripes lost at home to Shamrock Rovers last Friday before twice coughing up the lead for a 2-2 draw at Waterford on Monday.

But Devine's side have the chance to put 12 points between themselves and Cork City tonight at the Brandywell, with Ally Gilchrist hoping to shrug off a knock to play.

"Performance levels have been excellent in both those games so we're in a positive frame of mind," said Devine.

"The players are giving it absolutely everything they can, we are playing a good brand of football, we're fit and well organised so there's no gloom and doom.

"We're a work in progress as we've said all along- we're a new team and a young team and we need to learn from games like those.

"Obviously we were worth more than we got but the games keep coming so there's not much time for feeling sorry for ourselves."

Derry are down to fourth after the events of the last week but Devine is grateful for the support they continue to get.

"We've no intention of becoming a team who want a pat on the back after a defeat, but I can assure the fans that their backing is really driving this group forward," he said.
