Derry City boss Declan Devine calls for no mercy against Wexford

Declan Devine wants his Derry City high flyers to show no mercy tonight.

The Candystripes boss believes his team is arguably the most in form side in the country right now having laid claim to third spot.

Wexford are rock bottom of the First Division and head for the Brandywell on the back of a 13-game winless run having conceded 10 goals in their last two league games.

Ahead of this FAI Cup clash, Devine said: “Once you start thinking that you’re better than you are, that’s when things start crashing down.

“Every game is important to us and we’ve drilled that into the players. We respect everyone who comes here and we cannot be complacent.”

Devine continued: “We’re determined to win and determined to show our fans that we’re a good team.

“The brand of football we’re playing is exceptional but there’s also a steeliness about us too.

“We’re one of the form sides in the country and our mental and technical application is excellent.

“Fourteen or fifteen of our players have chipped in with goals and we’re in a good place and we have to make sure Wexford don’t break that.”

Tonight’s game is Derry's 1500th in the League of Ireland and should they win, it will be their 700th victory in that time.
