Derry City have promoted Paddy McCourt to technical director as the club is set to increase their playing budget by 30 percent in 2020.
The ex-Celtic winger has been working with the Candystripes as head of their youth academy for over a year, and took to social media to announce his delight at the appointment.
"Privileged to continue my association with this brilliant football club," McCourt tweeted after the news broke.
"I look forward to working hard in my new role to improve all aspects of Derry City."
And boss Declan Devine has been handed a boost, with the club's chairman Philip O'Doherty confirming that the club's playing budget will increase significantly in 2020 after attaining European qualification last season.
"Declan's budget has been increased by 30% on last year.
"We haven't increased the ticket prices and we're expecting a wee bit more sponsorship but not much more.
"There's a fair amount of effort put in by the Board of Directors to basically to give Declan a bigger budget so he can compete at an even higher level than last year.
"We're making an effort in terms of increasing the budget and I do think we will challenge again this year.
"Dundalk will be very hard to peg back.
"All I can do is my bit and give him (Devine) a bit more for his budget but still keep the club on a sound financial footing," O'Doherty told the Derry Journal.
