Barry McNamee's second half display set Derry City on their way to a deserved victory over Sligo Rovers at the Brandywell.
The classy midfielder threaded through an incisive pass to David Parkhouse in the 59th minute and the striker gleefully crashed the ball home from 16 yards.
Sligo had their chances, with Derry keeper, Nathan Gartside pulling off a spectacular early save to deny Ronan Coughlan in the 10th minute.
And Liam Buckley’s men were on the front foot until Ciaron Harkin broke their spirit when doubling Derry’s lead during injury time.
The midfielder was set up by substitute Gianna Seraf and arrowed his shot low into the far corner, giving Mitchell Beeney no chance.
