Derrius Guice undergoes surgery for torn meniscus

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Redskins running back Derrius Guice underwent surgery on his torn meniscus in Pensacola, Fla.

Guice is out indefinitely and expected to miss up to eight weeks recovering from the injury.

It was announced on Thursday morning that Guice had torn his meniscus, and the second-year back was getting a second opinion on the injury. He visited Dr. James Andrews in Florida and reportedly underwent surgery today to trim the torn ligament.

In his absence, Adrian Peterson will step up yet again to shoulder the load for Washington. In 2018, he was brought in by the team in order to fill the gap left by Guice’s knee injury, then an ACL tear to the other knee.
