Derrius Guice expected to be at full strength by Fall Camp

Injury news is all the buzz at the Washington Redskins’ OTAs on Monday, highlighted by an apparently serious injury suffered by LB Reuben Foster.

However, Redskins’ coach Jay Gruden was able to lighten the mood a bit when talking to the media by mentioning an encouraging timetable for RB Derrius Guice’s return to the field.

“Derrius is coming along very well,” Gruden said, via Pro Football Talk. “We’re just trying to make sure that leg — his quad and everything — is full strength before we let him go. That will probably be another thing we’ll wait for training camp as well.”

Guice went down before his much-anticipated rookie season was able to get going, and his road to recovery has been documented as going well.

If all things happen to fall into place — should Guice meet his recovery benchmarks and rookie RB Bryce Love continue to get closer to 100 percent — then the Redskins could have the makings of a dynamic offense that is ripe with firepower and scoring threats. The injury bug just has to stay at bay for that to happen.
