Derrius Guice carries Redskins in expert’s 2019 projections

It is all about Derrius Guice for the Washington Redskins in 2019.

So says new season-long projections from ESPN’s Mike Clay, whose advanced work provides some always-interesting insight into how things could play out.

In the projections, the Redskins go run-based approach with Guice, who rumbles for 889 yards and seven touchdowns. Without a projected move at quarterback, Case Keenum has a ho-hum debut in Washington with 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

What Redskins fans won’t want to see is the wins projection on the right, which comes in at 4.9 and one of the worst marks in the NFL. But these are pre-draft projections, so the right move offensively — be it under center or perhaps a weapon to help the passing attack — could end up altering the outlook.

Guice is the centerpiece no matter what, provided he is healthy enough to avoid being brought back slowly as next season begins.
