Derrius Guice and Colt McCoy in doubt for Redskins preseason game vs. Bengals

A couple of high-profile players for the Washington Redskins are now in question for Thursday’s preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy didn’t play in the team’s first preseason game of the season vs. the Cleveland Browns last week, and it seems that he might be sidelined again this week as well.

In addition to McCoy, second-year running back Derrius Guice has also not been fully cleared by team doctors, so he will be held out of all preseason action until he is. Redskins coach Jay Gruden says he doesn’t know when that clearing will take place.

McCoy, who has spent the entire offseason rehabbing after suffering a broken leg in December of 2018, was held out of the contest to avoid injury risk, despite taking reps throughout the Redskins training camp. In his absence, Case Keenum and Dwayne Haskins shouldered much of the load.

This week, McCoy was expected to make his return to the field against the Cincinnati Bengals, but now that timeline might be in question.

Aside from McCoy, the Redskins also have several other players on the injury report, and we can expect that they will be seeing little-to-no action on Thursday night.

It’s obviously not great to see this many names on an injury report so far ahead of the regular season, but at least they all seem like minor injuries at this point.
