Derrick Rose out for Bulls with sore left knee

Jan. 11--Derrick Rose gave himself a high grade Friday when asked about his progress this season.

"I'd rate it an 'A,'" Rose said. "Missing two years, coming back, still competing. I don't know if too many people can do that."

Rose's grade Saturday will be incomplete because of his absence from the court. The Bulls guard will miss his 11th game of the season when the Bucks face the Bulls at the United Center.

"Just some (left) knee soreness," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "I'm always concerned.

"He had a little bit of soreness (Friday), so we just want to see where he is. He'll just get treatment. He'll see Dr. Cole tonight. We'll go from there."

Thibodeau said Rose did not participate in basketball-related activities Saturday. Tony Snell will start in his place, along with Jimmy Butler, Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol and Kirk Hinrich.

Mike Dunleavy will be in line with Rose to see Dr. Cole on Saturday night after he had an MRI on his right ankle, which has sidelined him since he injured it Jan. 1.

"It hasn't been finalized yet," Thibodeau said. "He's going to see Dr. (Brian) Cole tonight. We don't know yet. Well, Dr. Cole knows."

Thibodeau said he didn't believe there was an MRI scheduled for Rose, "but that could change after he sees Dr. Cole."

Rose led the Bulls with 19 points during Friday's 102-86 loss to the Wizards, the team's second double-digit defeat in a row and a game during which it missed 20 of its first 24 shot attempts and fell behind by as many as 20 late in the first quarter.

The Bulls (25-12) haven't lost three in a row since a skid stopped at four games Dec. 19, 2013.

Rose is 36-for-129 from the field (28 percent) in his last seven games. He's shooting 39.8 percent from the field this season but just 25.5 percent (35-for-137) from 3-point range.
