Techno heavyweights Jeff Mills and Derrick May will join the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for a concert conducted and arranged by Dzijan Emin. Europe has embraced the electronic-classical fusion, and the pair have toured with orchestras across the world.
They both hail from Detroit, and have been forerunners of the techno revolution alongside DJ Robert Hood, Carl Craig, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, although they have never before shared the stage.
Mills will bring a new set to the stage, created with composer Thomas Roussel for the Melbourne audience. May’s set, titled “Music is Music” is a homage to his earlier moniker Rhythm is Rhythm.
