Derrick Henry Made Unfortunate NFL History During Titans' Loss to Texans

The Titans’ offense struggled to get anything going against the Texans during the 19–16 loss in Week 15. Even star running back Derrick Henry was stifled by Houston’s defense, despite getting plenty of touches throughout the game.

Henry achieved some rather unwanted NFL history during Sunday’s loss. The 29-year-old became the first player in league history to record 20 or more touches and register less than 15 yards from scrimmage, according to Ryan McDowell of DL Football

Henry rushed the ball 16 times in the game but was held to just nine yards on the ground. He also had four receptions yet managed just one receiving yard. No player in league history had fewer scrimmage yards on 20 touches than the Titans’ three-time Pro Bowl running back during the defeat.

Henry’s nine rushing yards were his fewest in a game since 2017. The last time he was held to 20 or fewer rushing yards was in Week 3 against the Browns this season. Sunday’s game marks the third time he’s been held to fewer than 25 rushing yards on the year.

Tennessee had 66 rushing yards in the game against Houston. Henry’s nine yards were the third most on the team as rookie running back Tyjae Spears led the team with 30 yards on nine carries.

Over his last two games, Henry has a total of just 43 rushing yards, despite carrying the ball 33 times during that span, good for an average of 1.30 yards per carry.

The eight-year veteran will look to get back on track against the Seahawks in Week 16.
