Dermot O'Leary tells Alison Hammond to 'shut up' as she gushes about working with him

Dermot O'Leary was left feeling red-faced on Thursday's This Morning after Alison Hammond paid him a compliment.

The duo have been hosting the ITV show all week due to it being half term, and Alison was clearly enjoying the experience.

As This Morning returned from a break, Alison was sat next to Dermot as she told viewers: “I was just telling him how amazing he is..”

Father-of-one Dermot quickly interrupted her and shouted: "Shut up!" as Alison continued: "But he didn’t like it."

"No, it’s making me awkward!" Dermot admitted as he shuddered.

"It’s weird, I won’t do it again," 46-year-old Alison replied, as she attempted to continue hosting the show.

"Oh no, do it again, it’s not making me that awkward!" Dermot added, as Alison said: "I was just telling him I like doing the show with him, anyway..."

Alison and Dermot began hosting This Morning on Fridays at the beginning of the year, replacing husband and wife duo Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

The couple are usually asked to stand in Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield during half term, but this time it's Dermot and Alison instead.

Some viewers were loving the extra dose of the TV duo, with one person tweeting: "No offence to phil n holly but this morning is so much better with alison n dermot #thismorning (sic)."

Another added: "I think Alison and Dermot have really got their groove on @thismorning now - still miss @EamonnHolmes and @RuthieeL though - it's a different style - I think they are due to return for the summer #ThisMorning."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
