Dermot O'Leary reveals his wife works on Bridgerton on This Morning

Dermot O'Leary may have surprised some This Morning viewers when he revealed his wife works on Bridgerton.

The presenter and co-host Alison Hammond were discussing the news that the hit Netflix period drama had been commissioned for a third and fourth series with the second being filmed now.

During the This Morning View segment on Wednesday's show, the presenters discussed the news with show regular Andrew Neil and former Made In Chelsea star Georgia 'Toff' Toffolo.

While Toff admitted to not watching the raunchy series, Andrew said: "I saw it all, it's a wonderful load of old nonsense. It's beautifully made, it's great entertainment, I'm delighted they're doing a second series.

"I'm slightly surprised they've decided to commission series three and four, because series two will be without the main star."

He was of course talking about Simon, aka the Duke of Hastings who will not be back with wife Daphne, played by Phoebe Dynevor.

Dermot then said: "That's Regé-Jean Page. I have to confess here, my wife worked on it, she was second unit director."

He then went on to explain the reason for Regé-Jean not being in the next season.

"So the way it works is Julia Quinn is the author, there are many books about the Bridgerton series, and each series will be about a central character per book.

"So the first book was The Duke and I so was about the Duke and Duchess, the next one is about the Viscount who is lovely, Anthony, who is played by the brilliant Jonathan Bailey."

Dermot has been married to Dee Koppang since 2012 and the couple share baby son, Kasper, who was born in June last year.

Dee, 42, is a producer and director and has worked on The Crown and Justin Bieber: All Around the World.
