Dermot O'Leary left red-faced after awkward money blunder during This Morning competition

Dermot O'Leary was left feeling rather red-faced on Thursday's This Morning after making an epic money blunder.

The 48-year-old TV presenter has been hosting the ITV daytime show alongside Alison Hammond this week as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield enjoy an extra long festive break.

Alison and Dermot spoke to Josie Gibson live via video link as she returned for another edition of Dosh on your Doorstep, where she surprises a viewer by showing up at their house.

Dressed as a lollipop lady, Josie was seen running around in a secret location as she headed to one lucky person who had entered the competition.

Later on when they crossed back to Josie and This Morning viewer Jacqueline, Dermot made an epic blunder.

"We're hoping that she's gonna walk away with £10,000 today in today's game of Dosh on your Doorstep," he was heard saying.

"No! It's only £1,000 today, it's not £10,000! You're giving away too much money!" Alison quickly butted in.

Laughing nervously, Dermot replied: "I said £10,000! Well, we're all hoping that!"

Dermot claimed the woman was playing Dosh on your Doorstep for £10,000 but it was actually only £1,000 (ITV)

As they crossed over to Josie, she was seen standing with the lucky viewer and was also laughing aa she joked: "You've said it, you've said it now Dermot!"

"No it's £1,000," Alison quickly chimed in, aware that Jacqueline could hear everything they were saying.

Luckily for the viewer, she managed to ask all of Josie's questions correctly and won the full amount of £1,000.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
