Dermot O’Leary lands job presenting new ITV series after This Morning success

Dermot O’Leary has reportedly been approached to present an exciting new ITV show that brings families together.

The 47-year-old television star, who is currently enjoying great success after landing a role on This Morning, is set to front the new show that will feature family groups embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The new dad, who welcomed a baby son last summer, is expected to start working on the show when production begins later this summer.

His latest filming endeavours come while the former X Factor presenter enjoys a hugely successful role on This Morning as well as The Pet Show.

An insider speaking to The Sun confirmed that Dermot is a likely contender to oversee the exciting challenges that take place on set.

“This past year has been an incredibly hard one for families who have been forced apart by the pandemic," the source told the publication.

“This upbeat competition series hopes to not only celebrate and nurture those bonds but pit the duos against others with a series of challenging tasks in the great outdoors.

The premise of the show will see family members come together in pairs and use generational skills while they embark on an unforgettable trip.

The insider added: “By teaching and sharing their knowledge of life skills such as building, craft and constructing, not only are the teams hoping to win but also learn more about their roots and strengthen the bonds of their friendships.

“To make it the ultimate feel-good show, new dad Dermot has been invited to join the adventure as host.”

A representative for ITV has been approached by The Mirror for comment.

The latest reported casting comes months after Dermot O'Leary joined the cast of ITV's This Morning to present a segment alongside Alison Hammond.

The pair, who started presenting the segment in January, already seem to be a huge hit with viewers after replacing Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.

Since they began, their episodes have averaged 1.3million viewers and got 21% of the available TV audience.

Dermot also appears to have his hands full after becoming a dad for the first time last year.

The television star and his wife Dee Koppang revealed that they were on cloud nine after welcoming baby Kasper.
