Dermot O'Leary fact still stuns viewers as he also reveals 'present' from This Morning after replacing Phillip Schofield

This Morning viewers were still left stunned when a detail about Dermot O'Leary was once again mentioned on the show. The presenter was back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Thursday (June 22) alongside Holly Willoughby as they wound up a two-week stint hosting together.

Last week, Dermot joined Holly as her latest co-host following Phillip Schofield's shock exit. The TV and radio presenter was previously drafted in to cover for Holly alongside Alison last month after it was revealed that Schofield had quit the popular daytime show after more than 20 years amid rumours of a 'feud' with his former co-host.

And after hosting alongside both Josie and Craig Doyle during her first week back, Holly was reunited with a familiar face in the shape of Dermot with the pair presenting together for the first time since 2014 before the former X Factor star confirmed he'd be alongside Holly for two weeks which meant today (Thursday) would be their last show together - at least for now.

The penultimate episode of This Morning of the week was a busy one it included viewers getting to see the moment Dermot got to live out his 'Top Gun' dream during a very special day out.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the world-famous Duxford Air Show, the ITV daytime show wanted to celebrate this milestone and also the recent 50th birthday of Dermot himself by treating him to a day to remember and the film was shown during the latest edition of the programme.

Dermot - a die-hard aviation fan - got to fly in a Hurricane plane, the one known as the main workhorse during the Battle of Britain due to its durability. Despite his excitement, Dermot said: "Handily they’ve given me a parachute! Let’s hope it’s purely precautionary."

During the flight, Dermot said: "What an incredible feeling, the sense of history is pretty overwhelming," before then getting the chance to take control of the plane himself. Dermot remarked: "Are you mad?" But after the experience, he declared: "That was such a privilege and such fun."

Back in the studio after relieving the experience and watching the footage back, Dermot said: "It was like re-living history, as soon as you sit in it, the smell… but it was so graceful. You feel completely safe but you’re also aware that you’re in something that is almost a hundred years old, but you feel so secure inside it."

Holly then replied: "Well happy birthday to you too!" to which Dermot said: "Thank you and thanks for my present - I used to go to Duxford all the time as a kid and there are loads of airshows there this summer, it’s well worth doing."

However, This Morning viewers still couldn't get over Dermot's age after her was celebrated on the show earlier this month. @TheDivineFrog said: "Gotta be said, Dermot does not look anywhere near 50!! @radioleary @thismorning #thismorning #dermotoleary."

@Boppity_Boo34 tweeted: "Have to say Dermot doesn’t look 50 #ThisMorning." @NiickBoii replied: "It’s a blessing to have and to cherish. There’s not many who look younger than their age. It’s a good thing." @fuzzybeepants added: "So where can one purchase a bottle of whatever Dermot drinks, to look that good at 50! #ThisMorning #ITVThisMorning."
