Dermot Kennedy is the most streamed Irish artist in 2022 on Apple Music

Apple Music's year-end charts are out, and Dermot Kennedy is top of the pops.

The tech giant, whose streaming service Apple Music is the second most popular paid-for app for listening to music in the world, has also launched its annual personal year-end service for subscribers Replay.

The firm has taken the wraps off its global end-of-year charts and issued a top 100 list of the most streamed songs in Ireland.

Top of the pops

Dermot Kennedy’s Better Days was the most streamed Irish song in Ireland in 2022 — sitting at No.11 in the Top 100 list of most streamed songs in Ireland on the streaming service's platform.

Dermot, who has just dropped his new album Sonder, also had two more tunes in the Top 100 — Something to Someone at No.22 and Giants at No.40.

The only other Irish act in the Top 100 was The Pogues at No.74 with their Christmas anthem Fairytale of New York.

Ireland's favourites

The most streamed song on Apple Music in Ireland was Harry Styles’ As It Was, while No.2 was Cold Heart by Elton John and Dua Lipa.

Also in the Top 10 were Adele, Ed Sheeran and Gayle.

Kate Bush’s classic Running Up The Hill was the most streamed old song on the top 100 — sitting at No.17.

In the international Apple Music charts, The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber finished the year at No.1 on the Top Songs of 2022 with their collaboration, STAY.

Things looked notably different on the Most Read Lyrics chart, led by We Don’t Talk About Bruno, from Disney’s Encanto.

The lyrics chart is among the most global charts, with 29 of the 100 songs being in a language other than English.

British DJ Joel Corry’s Head & Heart (feat. MNEK) leads the Fitness Songs Chart, which ranks the top songs on Apple Music’s playlists.

Bad Bunny — Apple Music’s 2022 Artist of the Year — became the first Latin artist to have the biggest album of the year with Un Verano Sin Ti.

Apple Music subscribers can learn their own personal top songs, artists, albums, genres and more in a redesigned Replay experience.

All insights on Replay are optimised for sharing with family and friends, on their social channels or on any messaging platform. Users can access Replay until December 31.

“When we first launched Replay, the feature became an instant fan favourite on Apple Music, and we really wanted to develop the experience further and make it even more special, personal, and unique for subscribers,” Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats., said.

“The music we enjoy throughout the year becomes like a soundtrack, and it’s really fun to be able to go back and relive those meaningful and memorable moments over again.”
