Plans have been submitted for the demolition of a pub which has stood derelict for more than a decade.
A planning application has been submitted to the council to knock down the former Wing Half premises on Alnwick Drive, in Ellesmere Port which closed back in 2010, CheshireLive reports. The Wing Half was named in honour of Ellesmere Port-born footballer Joe Mercer.
Since its closure, work had started on converting the property into flats but that was never completed. The empty building has also been extensive vandalism, despite being fenced off. On behalf of the applicant, Sandbach Commercial Dismantlers LTD has submitted the proposal for demolition.

It reads: "The building tenants have moved out. The public house has been half converted into flats and vandalised extensively. The site will be left swept clean and safe ready for potential future development."
It is hoped demolition work can begin later this month. A similar proposal was put forward for another derelict Ellesmere Port pub which has stood empty for several years. The Great Sutton Pub on Gleneagles Road continues to deteriorate and promises have repeatedly been made the pub will be knocked down, but action has yet to be taken.
