Former Hibs player Derek Riordan is set to take over a Leith pub with a convicted drug dealer – and the grand opening is this weekend.

According to the Daily Record, Riordan (37) is going to be taking over the bar with Michael 'Mikey' Wright (35) who counts a number of notorious gangsters among his pals. In 2011 he was given a three year prison sentence for drug dealing.

He revealed that he would be partnering with Riordan on his Instagram, posting a message alongside a picture of the pair outside the pub.

He posted: "New venture, Dunno what we're getting ourselves in for, buzzing though. Be sure to pop in on February 1."

Riordan has previously encountered issued with other licensed premises, and in 2009 had his Edinburgh nightclub ban increased to ten years. He was first banned from nightclubs in May 2008.

He spent two spells at Hibs, and also played for Celtic during his chequered football career.

A spokesperson at the Four in Hand said: "Derek Riordan and his partner will be taking over the pub from Saturday."
