Former Rangers striker and pundit Kris Boyd has hailed his ex-club's appointment of Derek McInnes as their new manager.
Following Danny Rohl's departure to Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, the Ibrox club have moved quickly, with Hearts' manager last season signing a three-year deal with his boyhood team.

"It's been a long time coming," Boyd told Sky Sports. "I mean, I think it was what, 10, 11 years ago, since he first spoke to Rangers when he was at Aberdeen and it didn't materialise.
"But you know, I think for Derek, he’ll be absolutely delighted he's managed to get the job, and he'll be looking forward to the upcoming season. I think he was very unlucky last year.
"He's shown that he is a good operator in Scottish football and Rangers will be hoping he can continue to improve."

Boyd continued, "He's got a big summer ahead of him because Rangers do need, I wouldn’t say a squad overhaul, but they do need to get a good five or six players in. They've already started with Lawrence Shankland; you'd imagine there will be a few more to go.
"But from Derek's point of view, he'll be absolutely delighted just to get that contract signed and look to get to work."
