Derek McInnes hails Dave Cormack's Aberdeen vision as he pays tribute to an old friend

Derek McInnes insists Dave Cormack's Aberdeen ambition knows no bounds as he paid tribute to departing Stewart Milne.

There's been a changing of the guard at Pittodrie with Milne stepping down as chairman after more than 20 years.

He's handing over the reins to vice-chairman Cormack at the club's agm in December which McInnes believes will begin an exciting new chapter.

Milne, who has been among McInnes' most ardent backers in the north east, this week described his decision to hire the manager as the best of his entire tenure.

And the Dons boss was keen to show his gratitude before ushering in the Cormack era.

He said: " Stewart Milne has been very supportive throughout our time together at Aberdeen, he’s done brilliant work for the club over a period and he’s still going to be involved.

" Dave Cormack has shown from day one a desire to make Aberdeen bigger and better and he wants us to be the biggest club we can be.

"There’s no conflict with Atlanta and we have a similar view on so many different areas of a football club.

"I just want the best for the club and if we can get some help to do that, that’s fine with me."

McInnes also provided positive news on Craig Bryson after he was sent for an ankle scan this week.

He was on the receiving end of a crunching Murray Davidson challenge during the 1-1 draw with St Johnstone on Sunday.

The Saints midfielder was shown a straight red but Bryson, who has a history of ankle issues, suffered no lasting damage.

He could join returning Zak Vyner in the squad to face St Mirren on Saturday.

McInnes added: "Bryson’s scan results show it’s not as bad as we feared and hopefully he’ll be back training while Vyner is added to the squad."
