Derek McInnes gives transfer update on Gary O’Neil and Youssouf Mulumbu after Aberdeen interest

Aberdeen will not make any more signings before January despite checking out a number of out-of-contract players.

Derek McInnes has held talks with former Middlesbrough and West Ham star Gary O’Neil, 36, and was interested in Youssouf Mulumbu, 32.

The Dons boss has suffered a shortage of players in midfield of late, with the likes of Lewis Ferguson suspended and Funso Ojo and Craig Bryson out injured.

Although Ojo won’t return until January, Bryson came on at half time with Aberdeen losing 4-0 to Celtic at Pittodrie.

And ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with Hamilton, McInnes has revealed he won’t be making any moves until January.

The Aberdeen manager said: "There won’t be any players arriving in the short term."

McInnes also revealed Bryson and Ferguson are due to start against Accies in Lanarkshire.

He added: "With Bryson up to speed, we’ll be a better team. Ferguson and Main return from suspension and Taylor will be training later in the week.

"Bryson and Ferguson will probably start tomorrow."
