Leeds United youngster Ryan Edmondson has joined Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen on loan, the Whites have officially announced.
Reports north of the border on Friday morning claimed that the striker was close to sealing a switch to Pittodrie in the hunt of more regular first-team football.
Now, both Leeds and Aberdeen have confirmed that the deal has been concluded, with the 19-year-old having joined the the Dons on loan until January.
The England Under-19 international trained with his new teammates on Friday morning ahead of the season curtain raiser against Rangers tomorrow, with the deal being concluded in time to ensure he is available for selection.
During his career so far, Edmondson has made just two appearances for the Whites' first-team, the last of which came on September 22, 2018.
With that in mind, Edmondson's decision to leave Elland Road on a temporary basis is fully understandable, as he looks to get more first-team experience under his belt.
With the signing having been concluded ahead of the opening day clash with Rangers, Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is delighted to have added a striker to his ranks, with both Sam Cosgrove and Curtis Main currently sidelined through injury.
McInnes told Aberdeen's club website: “I’m delighted Ryan is here.
“His eagerness and willingness to come to Aberdeen is really encouraging. He is a player we’ve known about for a while and always felt he had the correct attributes to add to our squad.
“With the injuries to Sam and Curtis we clearly would have been short of two of our key players so I must thank the Board for their co-operation in getting Ryan here, during what is a financially tough period for the Club.
“I’ve no doubt Ryan will have a positive impact during his time with us.”
Aberdeen have also placed on record their thanks to Leeds for allowing them to sign Edmondson on loan.
