Derek McInnes drops Aberdeen transfer hint as they lodge fast-track Sam Cosgrove appeal

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has confirmed he may look to add to his squad in January as Greg Leigh and Craig Bryson face lengthy injury lay-offs.

The Dons have been struggling with injuries for some time and currently sit fourth in the Premiership after 19 matches.

They take on Livingston on Boxing Day but could be without top-scorer Sam Cosgrove as they await the verdict over their appeal on Sam Cosgrove's red card against Celtic.

A decision will be made on the Englishman's tackle on Kris Ajer on Tuesday.

And today McInnes confirmed that two more key men will be out until well into 2020.

The Aberdeen manager said: "I’m hopeful that we’ve a chance to right a wrong with Sam’s red card As I said, for me it’s never a red card.

"I’m not considering being without Sam on Thursday and hopefully common sense will prevail.

"It’s important that we play well and set about the objective of six points before the break.

"Greg Leigh is our for two months and Craig Bryson requires minor surgery on his ankle which is a real blow.

"The squad is quite tight at the moment and potentially we might look at bringing one or two in during the window."
