Derek McInnes insists he's enjoying a break from football but admits he may not be able to resist the right opportunity.
The former Aberdeen boss is taking time out after his eight year stint at Pittodrie was brought to an end in March.
Arriving from Bristol City, McInnes led the Dons to a League Cup success in 2014 and restored the club as a serious force in Scottish football over the years.
But an uninspired 2020/21 campaign ended his tenure, with Stephen Glass set to take over with a coaching team that's set to include Celtic captain Scott Brown.
McInnes, meanwhile, is in no rush to take another job but refused to rule out a quick return if the stars align.
"In between Bristol and Aberdeen I only had about five weeks," he told Premier Sports.
"It'd be nice to get some good time out, reflect and prepare for the next job.
"That's what you do when you're out of work as a manager and it's important you use the time wisely.
"But at the same time, if an opportunity comes up and it's exciting enough, it's hard to resist that. It's in us to work.
"Hopefully, I'll get back into that and get the bit between the teeth again, come back better than ever.
"I'm really looking forward to the next challenge but I'm also looking forward to a break as well."
McInnes appeared on TV as a pundit for Rangers ' Scottish Cup win over Cove and took the chance to reflect on the end of his Pittodrie love affair.
He confessed the timing was right and maintains he leaves the club with nothing but fondness.
"Obviously it's a sad time with a heavy heart leaving the club," he added.
"For me, it was the right time. I was hoping to get to the end of the season and do it that way but I have to respect the club to try and get themselves prepared for next season and it's a different era for them now.
"There's a different board, a different management team. But there's a lot of fondness, I had a fantastic time at Aberdeen.
"I worked with a lot of very good players and stuff. It's onwards for them and onwards for me to look at the next challenge.
"I'll take a wee break for some family time and hopefully get the golf down a wee bit!
"I'm enjoying going out watching games, I enjoyed tonight.
"But I've got to move on from Aberdeen now and them from me."
