Derek McInnes bemoans Aberdeen's Celtic luck as he makes form quip

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes admits it seems to be impossible for the Dons to come up against Celtic even when they aren't in great form.

The Hoops have been flying since the winter break with 22 goals in six league games and there doesn't appear to be any sign of slowing up.

McInnes is determined to get his side on a run after winning for the first time in 2020 on Tuesday night against Hamilton.

But he knows how difficult it will be up against Celtic with Neil Lennon's men in such good shape.

He said: "It was important to get back to winning ways with three very good goals and we were very clinical and we move on to Celtic on the back of a good performance.

"Any time we seem to play Celtic, they always seem to be in good form. For us, it’s about getting the balance right between attack and defence.

"I’m only concentrating on our performance ahead of Sunday. Hopefully, Tuesday was a sign of things to come.

"I think Celtic have found that hunger again after the break and they have a bit of momentum going which makes them title favourites but there’s still a lot of football to be played."

The Aberdeen boss will have Craig Bryson back for Sunday's clash at Pittodrie.

The midfielder hasn't played since being injured in the 1-1 draw with St Johnstone back in November.

And there could be a further boost for McInnes as he added: "“Greg Leigh is reimaged today.

“The train of thought is if the image is clear and good then he comes out of the boot.

“It is probably going to be the end of the month before Greg can be back into proper full training, all being well.

“Craig Bryson, though, is back in full training and trained great.

“Hamilton came too soon for him, but the plan is for him to available for the weekend.

“Scott Wright is progressing well and is back doing some running and some ball work at the minute.

“He is probably about a month to six weeks away which is a bit ahead of schedule.”
