Derek Dietrich tried to singlehandedly stop a swarm of bees from taking over Reds-Giants game

Derek Dietrich hates wearing shirts and loves to fight bees.

As we have pointed out a number of times in the past, bees enjoy baseball.

There’s plenty of sugary foods, sunshine, and space to do bee things at baseball stadiums. So, when a swarm of bees decided to make its way around Cincinnati on Monday, the bees settled on Great American Ball Park as the perfect place to set up shop.

The problem: The Giants and Reds were trying to play a baseball game.

The bees initially took over the infield and dugout areas at the stadium, forcing the game to be delayed. Like, there were so many bees.

That was when Dietrich decided to take matters into his own hands. He dressed up as an exterminator and ran around the infield, spraying chemicals (or pretending to) like a responsible bee-fighting baseball player. Just don’t let Ned Yost see this video.

The bees even made their way up to the press box. This swarm was no joke.

The game resumed after an 18-minute delay. We can definitively say that Dietrich deserves all the credit here.

These guys have no fear, though.
