Derek Chisora mocks Deontay Wilder over emotional response to last win

Derek Chisora has hit out at "emotional" Deontay Wilder after he burst into tears following his KO win over Robert Helenius.

The 'Bronze Bomber' made his return to the ring last month when he brutally stopped former sparring partner Helenius in the first round - by leaving him out cold. It was Wilder's first fight since making a long and hard decision over whether to retire following his second consecutive defeat to Tyson Fury last year.

Wilder burst into tears at the post-fight press conference after being concerned by the wellbeing of Helenius following the vicious shot, and started discussing the potential health struggles in being a fighter. However, Chisora believes the American heavyweight should retire from boxing if he is concerned for his wellbeing.

"I was trying to get that fight but they said no and that I am not on the radar," Chisora said during an interview with Queensberry Promotions when discussing Wilder. "He ended up fighting some fat white guy [Helenius]. He ended up fighting his sparring partner and beat him by pushing him. Do you know Deontay Wilder is very emotional?

"I think Tyson did some damage to him, you say hello to the guy and he starts crying. Just don't go in the f***ing ring then. We go in the ring to get paid motherf*****. It is a gladiator sport bro. Don't go in the ring. You know people shouldn't go in the ring if they are very emotional. If they think they are going to do damage on other peoples kids don't do it. Retire from boxing and live your life."

Wilder was extremely worried about the health of his rival who was taken straight to hospital following the defeat. He immediately went to Helenius' hotel room after his release from medical treatment to apologise for the nature of the stoppage.

Chisora was heavily linked with being Wilder's opponent for his return after losing to Joseph Parker last year but was denied his shot. 'WAR' then called out the 'Bronze Bomber' again following one of his career best wins over Kubrat Pulev, but instead received a title challenge from Fury on December 3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Wilder has insisted he has concerns for his opponents when he takes on challenges, which could be a key reason why he refused to accept a clash with the ageing Briton. "I always have concerns for all fighters," Wilder said when sending a message of support to Helenius at the post-fight press conference. "I'm a big advocate for fighters because, like I always say, this is not a sport.

"A sport is something you play. You don't play this. We risk our lives for your guys' entertainment and I speak that forever. When you see stuff like that [Helenius KO] man, you want to come to his aid. I wanted to come to his aid but they wouldn't let me."
