Derek Chisora and Joseph Parker announce December date for heavyweight rematch

Derek Chisora and Joseph Parker will meet in a rematch on December 18 in Manchester, seven months after their first meeting .

The pair went through twelve hard rounds at heavyweight behind-closed-doors back in May, which could have gone either way but Parker prevailed on a narrow split-decision.

Parker had been linked with a heavyweight match-up with Joe Joyce, as he continues his route back to challenging for a world title in the blue-ribbon division.

But now the rematch has been confirmed between the pair for the final show of 2021 at Manchester Arena, which will be broadcast on DAZN as Matchroom Boxing continue their partnership with the streaming service.

Chief promoter Eddie Hearn announced a schedule of three fight's including Dillian Whyte's next test against rugged German Otto Wallin, and is "excited" for the upcoming schedule.

"Matchroom and DAZN's stacked upcoming schedule just got even better with these three blockbuster additions," Hearn said.

"First up on October 16 four-weight king Mikey Garcia returns to action in a difficult assignment against Barcelona's European Super-Lightweight Champion Sandor Martin in Fresno, CA.

"'The Body Snatcher' Dillian Whyte returns home to The O2 on October 30 to put his Interim WBC Heavyweight World Title against Otto Wallin - the man that came so close to inflicting a loss on Tyson Fury.

"Then on December 18 Joseph Parker and Derek Chisora go to war again at Manchester Arena. Catch it all live and exclusively around the world on DAZN."

Chisora immediately after the fight announced his intentions of remaining in the sport, and called for a rematch after he believed he won the fight.

And now the heavyweight has signed with Anthony Joshua's label 258MGT, he will be confident of gaining revenge with a victory.

"I was putting in more power punches, inside work, but I can't get upset anymore," Chisora told Sky Sports Box Office. "But you know what, I won't let them slow me down. No way. I will not let them slow me down. I will go again.

"They want to see me retire, but I'm not retiring yet, forget that. This is horrible I train hard every day, I give everything in the gym, and when I put it all in there, these are the results I get.

"But Joe said he wants to give me a rematch. If he wants to give me a rematch, I'll take the rematch easy, but this is unbelievable. I won the fight, even his coach Andy Lee said I won the fight."

Parker continues to harbour ambitions of returning to become the leading contender for Anthony Joshua's unified world titles.

And his manager David Higgins is confident that his fighter will "put away" the British heavyweight this time and cause his "retirement".

"There's talk of Dereck Chisora and a rematch," Parker's manager David Higgins said to Sky Sports. "If I was Chisora, I'd be planning my retirement after that fight, if it is to happen.

"Joseph is quite happy to fight Chisora again. He knows exactly what he's dealing with now.

"Chisora had that early first round punch, but Joseph is confident he can make good work of Chisora and put him away into retirement.
