Derek Carr responds to Joey Bosa’s criticism

It wasn’t the Chargers’ victory over the Raiders that made headlines following the Monday night matchup. Instead, it was what edge defender Joey Bosa said about quarterback Derek Carr that drew the attention.

Bosa was asked about pressuring Carr, who was sacked four times and hit seven times, at his post-game press conference.

“We knew once we hit him a few times, he really gets shook,” Bosa said. “And you saw on [Christian Covington’s fourth-quarter] sack he was pretty much curling into a ball before we even got back there.

A day later, Carr responded to what Bosa had to say.

“I don’t think he watched the game in the same order I did,” Carr said of Bosa. “I think he was trying to get under my skin. He’s probably mad because I was talking a lot of crap to him during the game. It was an emotional day for them.”

Entering the contest as the league leader in passing yards, Carr was held to 196 yards and an interception.

Even after Bosa’s remark, Carr does not believe that there’s any bad blood between the two, but as division rivals, he will use it as fuel for when the next time they meet.

“It pissed me off, but that’s not a bad thing either. I love Joey. He knows that. We’ve gone back and forth, talking crap. He’s entitled to his opinion. We’ll see them again.”

The Raiders and Chargers will meet one more time on Jan. 9, the final week of the regular season.
