Derek Carr feels Raiders should have won vs. Texans, ‘1,000 percent’

The Raiders played a spirited game against the Texans but couldn’t overcome a bevy of mistakes, limited offensive opportunities and phenomenal play from Houston’s quarterback, Deshaun Watson.

As for Oakland’s QB, Derek Carr, he didn’t hesitate to agree when asked by The Athletic’s Vic Tafur whether he felt this was a game the Raiders should have won.

The Raiders amassed 11 penalties for 100 yards and still weren’t out of the game until its last two minutes. Carr led Oakland to a 21-13 advantage in the third quarter but watched Watson have the final say with a spectacular game-winning touchdown throw with just over six minutes left in the contest.

It appeared Carr would direct the decisive drive, but the Raiders’ offense stalled on the possession after Watson’s brilliant TD pass to Darren Fells. Carr and wide receiver Tyrell Williams failed to convert on two attempted connections on that ill-fated march, and Oakland’s loss was all but sealed.

The Raiders’ record sits at 3-4 as they head home to play the Lions in Oakland next week. This amounts to a huge game for Carr’s bunch, as they try to keep pace in an evenly-matched AFC.
