Derek Carr breaks fibula in Raiders' win over Colts

OAKLAND, Calif. _ The Raiders moved a step closer to capturing the AFC West title, but may have suffered a loss bigger than they can handle.

Quarterback Derek Carr left the game with 10:55 to play after suffering a broken fibula. Coach Jack Del Rio said Carr will have surgery tomorrow, but is out indefinitely.

Carr's injury came after he was wrapped up for a sack by the Colts' Trent Cole. He left the field unable to put any pressure on his right leg and clearly in pain.

After being helped from the field to the sidelines, he was taken off the field by a cart, giving a thumbs up sign to fans as he headed out.

While the Raiders' 33-25 win over Indianapolis gives them a chance to clinch the division and a first-round playoff bye if the Denver Broncos beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day, the concern is obviously now with Carr _ their key to an extended playoff run.
