Derek Adams set for Bradford as Morecambe boss to step down after promotion glory

Derek Adams is set to step down at Morecambe as he has agreed to take over at Bradford City.

The former Ross County boss sealed promotion glory with the Shrimps, taking them to the third tier of the English Football League for the first time in their history.

Adams has been in charge since November 2019 and posted a 43 per cent win ratio.

And Record Sport understands that he'll leave Morecambe on Thursday to seal a deal with Bradford on Friday.

The Bantams finished 15 in League Two last season but with a 25,000-seater stadium have room to grow.

After winning promotion Adams was coy on his future saying: "My future lies in celebrating tonight. Morecambe Football Club are in League One and they haven’t been there before.

“Listen, there are no done deals and that’s me being perfectly honest.”

Adams is something of a promotion specialist in League Two, having previously taken Plymouth up from that division in 2016-17.

And it's that skill Bradford will hope to call on as they look to climb the leagues with the former Motherwell player at the helm.
