Derek Adams launches attack on own club over a year after Scottish football rant

Derek Adams has launched a scathing attack on his own club's owners after his Morecambe side were relegated from the English Football League....18 months after he claimed they were '100 times better' than clubs in the Scottish Premiership.

The former Motherwell player hit the headlines after he attacked how bad the Premiership was when he was Ross County manager following a loss to Dundee in 2023.

He insisted Morecambe - who he had managed twice before - were 100 times better and later quit County after a 5-0 mauling at Motherwell after just a dozen games as manager..and returned to take charge of the Lancashire club for the third time last summer.

But off-field issues due to the club being up for sale and a loss of form led to them being relegated from League Two.

And Adams lashed out at the club's hierarchy.

He said: "We don't have any plans in place for next season and so we have a huge problem from the board and the owners and if they don’t start getting it right, they are letting this football club down. They need to start planning.

"They don’t have a plan and until they get a plan, then we’ve got a problem. They’re the ones who are custodians of this football club.

"We’ve got supporters who pay week in and week out for this football club. It is their responsibility, from up high – to give us a plan going forward, where they want to take this football club.

"We are giving everything for this club; our soul, our heart and our workrate. We haven’t had two days off consecutively this year, we have worked tirelessly for this club day in and day out and we haven’t had the rewards we have deserved.

"This season, we've had to deal with a transfer embargo at the start of the season, the non-payment of being able to take players in at the beginning of January.

"I can’t personally have a plan for next season either. Until they have a plan up there, I can’t have a plan.

"Until they get a plan, then we’ve got a problem."
