Derbyshire plastics giant Eurocell sees revenues rise as it continues Brexit preparations

A Derbyshire firm that makes PVC roof, window and door products, has reported a rise in revenues.

In a trading statement issued to the markets this morning, Eurocell , which is based in Alfreton, said that in the 11 months to November 30, revenue was up seven per cent, compared to last year.

The company, which employs more than 1,000 people at its Derbyshire factory and has branches nationwide, said it was enjoying a “good sales performance” in the second half of the year.

The firm also said it was using more recycled material in its products compared to 2018.

Eurocell as reiterated that it was taking measures to reduce the possible impact of Brexit on its operations.

In the trading statement it said: “As previously reported, we have invested in a stock build programme to mitigate the possible impact of raw material supply interruption due to Brexit, and to increase stock holding at our branches.

“We have added approximately £5 million to finished goods for key product lines under the plan, which provides a good level of protection and much improved availability.”

The firm added that it was continuing to “incur some operating inefficiencies”.

In August, Eurocell appointed Mark Hemming as chief operating officer in August to address this.

In the trading statement, the firm said: “Mark has made an excellent start and is now leading our drive to improve operating efficiency.”

In the summer, the firm reported a “robust” half-year performance, with revenues increasing by 15% to £136.3 million and pre-tax profits edging up by 1% to £10.6 million.

The business is due to announce its full-year results on March 13.
