Derbyshire logistics firm celebrates double award success

A Derbyshire transport and logistics solutions provider is celebrating landing a brace of national industry awards.

ATL, which based at Foston, secured a double success at the recently held Palletline Awards in Birmingham.

The firm, which also has a site in Carlisle, won the Palletline Topliner award for meeting and surpassing targets over a six-month period, while the company’s head of distribution, Leighton Wood, took the individual award for outstanding commitment to the network.

According to ATL Foston cross-dock manager, Shaun Deakin, the business has been steadily climbing the ranks following the opening of its state-of-the-art Midlands Hub last year.

He said: “We have been working hard to achieve our Key Performance Indicator (KPI) certificates which, because of the commitment of the Foston team and the dedication of all involved, means we continue to succeed in our aim of achieving the best standards in the industry and it’s great to be recognised for this.

“The Topliner award is a measure not just of our efficiency in meeting Palletline’s strict KPIs, it also means we are achieving the highest levels of efficiency for our customers.”

ATL is a family-run warehouse and distribution business which can trace its roots back more than 60 years.

It operates more than a million square feet of warehousing, much of which is located at the Midlands Hub, and a fleet of 82 vehicles and 110 trailers.

The new hub was officially opened by Business Secretary Greg Clark (Burton Mail)

Commenting on his award, Mr Wood said: “I’m overwhelmed to have received this. While it’s called an individual award, in reality it’s down to the support of both my teams in Foston and Carlisle, including the office staff, cross-dock operators and, of course, our drivers.

“All of these teams are a credit to ATL and I know this is only the start of our success. We’re all looking forward to what the future will bring.

“Both awards represent how far ATL has come over the past 12 months but more importantly how teamwork can deliver success.”
