Derby to face Aston Villa in the Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley

Aston Villa will face Derby County in the Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium on Monday, May 27.

Dean Smith's side will contest the so-called 'richest game in football' for the second successive season as they look to end their three-year exile from the Premier League.

Villa - beaten 1-0 by 10-man Fulham last year - secured their place in another final by finishing fifth and emerging victorious from a tense and fraught two-legged Midlands derby against West Brom.

Conor Hourihane and Tammy Abraham both notched in quick succession in a first-leg comeback win at Villa Park before a 1-0 defeat in the return fixture on Tuesday was followed by a penalty shootout in which Jed Steer saved two spot-kicks and Chelsea loanee Abraham impressively held his nerve.

Villa's latest Wembley opponents were confirmed on Wednesday night, when Derby completed a stunning comeback at Elland Road to consign Leeds to another season in the second tier of English football.

Leeds had taken a slender advantage into that second-leg clash after Kemar Roofe netted the only goal of the game in a controversial win at Pride Park on Saturday.

But a 4-2 win in Yorkshire ensured it is Frank Lampard's side joining Villa at Wembley.
