Derby Road reopens near QMC after gas leak repair works caused traffic chaos

Derby Road has fully reopened following emergency repair works to fix a gas leak.

The busy road had been closed heading into the city between the QMC Island and Gregory Street for the emergency work all day Tuesday, (October 8).

Severe traffic delays built up on Middleton Boulevard and around the QMC due to the road closure.

Nottingham City Transport diverted its Orange 34, 35, 36 and N34 buses towards the city via Abbey Street and Gregory Street.

Buses were being delayed by more than 50 minutes following the closure on Tuesday.

But it has since been reopened on Wednesday morning (October 9), Cadent confirmed to Nottinghamshire Live.

The company behind the works said the leak was on a "significant gas feed" which required excavation to fix.
