Derby County owner's foul-mouthed response to reports he is disillusioned at Nottingham Forest's arch-rivals

Derby County owner Mel Morris delivered a foul-mouthed response to reports he is disillusioned at the helm of Nottingham Forest’s arch-rivals.

It has been reported the Rams could soon be sold to a new owner, with the Daily Mail having said Morris is “considering his future” as sources claim he is losing around £3m a month in charge of the Championship club.

At a fans’ forum on Wednesday night, Morris confirmed serious discussions are taking place with potential new investors/owners.

But he hit back at suggestions he has become disenchanted at Pride Park.

The club’s official Twitter account wrote: “Mel Morris describes reports that he is disillusioned at the club as ‘bulls**t’. He adds: “We have a fantastic club. It’s an incredible place and I’m incredibly proud of what we have. We have challenges and what I’d like to do is give you guys an opportunity to understand.”

Derby are said to be on the market for just £1, with any new ownership taking on the debt which has been amassed while Morris has been owner and chairman.

The club have attracted interest from the United States, Canada, the Far East and across Europe, according to Derbyshire Live.

As far back as last August, Morris hinted he may consider the prospect of new investors, having become the sole owner in September 2015 and chairman in June of that year.

Frank Lampard’s side are currently eighth in the table, one point adrift of sixth-placed Aston Villa – and just two points ahead of the Reds.

They host Rotherham United when the league campaign resumes this weekend.
