Derby County owner Mel Morris 'rejects £50m bid' for club

The owner of Nottingham Forest's fierce rivals, Mel Morris has reportedly rejected a £50 million bid for Derby County.

According to The Sun, the Rams executive chairman is holding out for an extra £10m, report DerbyshireLive.

It is being reported that an offer is on the table from an American consortium, who flew over to secure a deal.

Morris has been open about his desire to secure additional investment into the club, with directors John Kirkland and David Williams stepping down from their positions last week.

Last month, former Liverpool owner George Gillett's son Foster was said to be in talks to buy the club.

Forest are currently 11 points and seven places above Derby, reclaiming the Brian Clough Trophy in a 1-0 defeat of the Rams in February.

The two sides have already met this season, Forest comprehensively beating Derby in the Carabao Cup 3-0.
