Nottingham Forest's East Midlands rivals Derby County are currently embroiled in a fight to keep hold of manager Frank Lampard amid interest from Chelsea.
The Stamford Bridge club, with whom Lampard is their all-time record goalscorer, are currently looking to replace Italian boss Maurizio Sarri who has left to take over Italian champions Juventus.
According to DerbyshireLive, as it stands, no formal approach has been made, but speculation in the media suggests that the switch seems increasingly likely.
Owner Mel Morris is continuing to push through talks that he hopes will see Lampard sign a contract extension at Pride Park, and says he is still hopeful that his manager will remain beyond the summer.
"Of course, we have made it very clear to everyone, but most importantly to Frank, that we want to retain Frank for the long term," said the Rams chairman.
"If Chelsea want to hire Frank then it is in their gift to make an offer in pursuit of that.
"In the meantime, we will continue to put our best foot forward to continue with our plans for the coming season and work with Frank for him to know how much he is wanted by everyone associated with the club."
Harry Redknapp this morning told talkSPORT that he would consider it a "major surprise" if Lampard did not take over as Chelsea manager.

The ex-Tottenham boss, and Lampard's uncle, said the job would be "brilliant for him" and praised Morris for giving his nephew a golden opportunity to prove himself.
"It looks to me as though it will happen," he said.
"It would be a shame for Derby as Mel Morris gave him the opportunity there and he's done a great job.
"But it's a great move; he's absolutely idolised at Chelsea - a genuine legend there."
