Derby County boss makes honest admission after Nottingham Forest draw

Derby County boss Wayne Rooney admitted a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest was "probably a fair result" after the Rams let their 1-0 lead slip.

Tom Lawrence opened the scoring for the home side as he rifled a volley beyond Brice Samba.

Derby had strong claims for a penalty waived away in the second half despite Joe Worrall appearing to handle the ball inside the penalty area.

And the Rams were left frustrated when, eight minutes from full-time, youngster Brennan Johnson squeezed a shot past Kelle Roos to level the scores.

The draw, Derby's third from three home matches, left Rooney with a mixed opinion on the game.

He told DerbyshireLive: "I think performance was good first half, not so good second half, so I think a point is a fair result.

"I think Forest were better than us in the second half. For whatever reason, we didn't play our game second half.

"Of course there is pressure, so you expect that a little bit but I didn't expect it as much as that second half in terms of not being brave and taking the ball, not putting passes together.

"I think every time we put three or four passes together we got in dangerous areas and looked a threat.

"We didn't do the simple things well second half which allowed Forest to get momentum and I think they deserved their equaliser. So a point is probably a fair result."
