Derby aerospace firm secures Rolls-Royce contract extension

A Derby firm which provides supply chain services to the aerospace and defence sectors is celebrating after securing the renewal and expansion of a contract with Rolls-Royce.

Pattonair has announced that its logistics and parts supply agreement with the aero engine-maker has been extended until 2030.

The firm has worked with Rolls-Royce, which has its civil aerospace division in Derby, since the late 1990s - supporting its supply chain, including sub-tier and aftermarket requirements across the globe.

Pattonair serves more than 2,000 customers spanning engine systems and airframes through its sites in Derby and across the world in countries such as Singapore, China, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Brazil, Canada and the US.

Rolls-Royce, which designs, develops and manufactures engines for commercial passenger jets at its Sinfin site, is one of the firm’s key customers.

Wayne Hollinshead, chief executive of Pattonair, said: “Renewing our contract with Rolls-Royce is a great endorsement of our team’s commitment to deliver consistent world class performance to our customer and cements our position as the market leader of supply chain solutions to the aerospace sector.”

The news is a major boost for Pattonair, which employs around 600 people in Derby. The contract extension also comes at a time when the firm is looking to grow its presence in the city.

Earlier this year, the company received planning permission to develop a 9.7-acre site at the Infinity Park Aerospace Campus. The new facility will include an 80,000 sq ft warehouse and a 15,000 sq ft office building.

The firm is hoping to have the Infinity Park site operational in 2021.

Speaking about the new site, Mr Hollinshead said: “This new site approximately doubles our Derby operational capacity and will provide state-of-the-art facilities to support our ambitious UK growth plans for the next 25 years.”
