Derailment halts Wong Wian Yai-Mahachai trains

Train services between Wong Wian Yai and Mahachai in Samut Sakhon were halted by a derailment on Friday, but are expected to resume on Saturday.

The State Railway of Thailand said the line will reopen for use on Saturday morning, after the three derailed carriages are moved away and the torn track repaired.

A Bangkok-bound train derailed between Rang Pho in Bang Bon district and Karn Kheha in Bang Khunthian, Bangkok, at 5.15am Friday.

A Twitter account posted by @Nalinee_PLE showed at one of the two rails was torn off the track sleepers, which were also damaged.
