Deputy encounters big bear doing some window shopping on Lake Tahoe street

SACRAMENTO, Calif. _ A Placer County Sheriff's Office deputy encountered a big bear sauntering down North Lake Boulevard in King's Beach, Lake Tahoe, on Tuesday night.

"Hey, big boy. Don't be breaking into any of them businesses," the deputy joked from his car. The bear slowly walks down the street from the Taco Bell and then crosses to the lake side of the boulevard.

Placer County Sheriff's Office posted the video on Facebook, and people had fun interactions in the comments.

"'Just act cool, Nothing to see here officer,'" posted Amy Hagerty-Huel.

"OUT window shopping for Christmas!!!!!" wrote Connie Murray, in which the sheriff's office wrote back: "You betcha! Looking for those deals."

The post has been shared more than 1,600 times.

Here are more comments:

Eden Larson: "I mean sometimes I go to Taco Bell in the middle of the night for a cheesy gordita crunch, too."

Christopher Banks Brown: "Excuse me PCSO ... I do believe that is jaywalking."

PCSO replied: "Ha. Deputy Nevins opted to just let him go on this one."

This wasn't the only bear sighting in the area this week. Auburn police were called to the scene of a bear sitting in a tree on the Placer High School campus.
