VARANASI: After the hospitals of state capital and other districts, it was the turn of Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya district hospital here for a surprise inspection by deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, who on Saturday took stock of services and wards after reaching there as common man. The district hospital authorities had to face Pathak’s ire on improper sanitary conditions.
Pathak, who had started surprise inspections of government health facilities immediately after taking charge of the health, medical and medical education departments, reached DDU hospital by driving an SUV himself. The deputy CM wore a mask on face as he stood in the queue for registration. After getting registration paper for outdoor patient services, Pathak went around many wings of the hospital and inspected the conditions.
By the time, officials became aware of Pathak’s presence in the hospital, he had already taken stock of sanitary conditions. As the news of his arrival spread on the hospital campus, doctors, paramedical staff and administrative officials swung into action. Later, chief medical officer Dr Sandeep Chaudhary also reached the hospital.
Pathak went to the office of chief medical superintendent and checked attendance of doctors and paramedical staff and sought explanation for the staff on leave.
After seeking details about oxygen plant, facilities of diagnostic tests and treatment from the authorities, the deputy CM inspected different wings again and found the X-ray room closed.
On reaching OPD, he interacted with patients like Ramjit Yadav on noticing many reports in his hand. He assured Yadav that all facilities would be made available for his treatment. He also met the patients admitted in the wards and took feedback from them on the treatment and facilities in hospital.
Before leaving DDU hospital, he instructed the officials to improve sanitary conditions and monitor them on regular basis. He said no complaint should be received regarding prescribing medicine from outside.
